KORČULA is a typical old croatian city with about 4,000 inhabitants and lies on the northeast shore of the island. A medieval military wall surrounds the Old Town of KORČULA which is richly in museums, treasuries, Gothik and Renaissance palaces as well as churches and chapels. The island KORČULA is famous for its mild climate (3,000 solar hours in the year), rich evergreen vegetation, wonderful situation and architecture; famous also for their stonecutters from earlier centuries as well as ship building. KORČULA is one of the most interesting and nicest Adriatic islands on which - according to the legend - the famous globetrotter Marco Polo was born.It has a rich folklore - songs, dances and stories - particularly the unique medieval heroic dance "MORESKA" whitch is worth mentioning. The vineyards of KORČULA are famous for her wines: Grk, Pošip, Postup and Dingač. Daily regular transport service with ferries, ships and buses connects KORČULA with the mainland, the peninsula Pelješac. The distance from the peninsula is 2.5 km.
